The 2008 Chevrolet Equinox is a midsize crossover sports utility vehicle that seats 5. The design of the vehicle is similar to that of the Pontiac Torrent and Suzuki XL7. It is available in four versions, LS, LT, LTZ and Sport. The Equinox is available with either with front wheel or all wheel drive. The LS, LT, and LTZ are powered by a 3.4 Liter V6 engine that is rated at 185 horsepower. All three versions are equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The Sports version is powered by a 3.6 Liter V6 engine that is rated at 264 horsepower. It is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Equinox LS version is equipped with a tilt steering wheel, cruise control, OnStar, cloth seats, bucket seats in the front and a drivers seat which can be adjusted according to the height of the driver, a passengers seat that can be folded flat, power mirrors, AM/FM radio, CD player and headlights that can be switched on automatically. The 2008 Equinox is equipped with a steering wheel that is wrapped in leather with the music system controls located on it, AM/FM radio and a CD/MP3 player and a glass divider to protect the passenger's privacy.
The LTZ is equipped with leather seats, heated front seats, a 6-way adjustable driver seat, AM/FM radio and a dashboard player that can store 6 CDs/MP3, and a satellite radio. The Sport version of the 2008 Equinox is equipped with heated front seats; a powered driver's seat that can be adjusted in 6 different ways, satellite radio, remote start, and a compass.
The 2008 Chevrolet Equinox is equipped with a traction control system; and side curtain airbags. The vehicle controls have been designed in a simple easy to use manner, though its music system small buttons are a bit complicated. There is plenty of both head and leg room inside the vehicle for passengers. It has a split back seat that can be slide up and down 8 inches to help one store extra luggage.
