2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP review

The 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix is a coupe or sedan available in two models, entry level and GXP. The entry level model is powered by a 3.8 Liter V6 engine that is rated at 200 horsepower and 230 pound feet of torque. The fuel economy ratings of the entry level model are 18 miles per gallon on city streets and 28 miles per gallon highway. The GXP model is powered by a 5.3 Liter V8 engine that is rated at 303 horsepower and 323 pound feet of torque. Both models are equipped with a front wheel drive and are equipped with a four speed automatic transmission. The fuel economy ratings of the GXP model are 18 miles per gallon on city streets and 27 miles per gallon highway.

The 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix entry model is equipped with 16 inch tires, powered accessories, keyless entry, a cruise control system and a CD player. The 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP model is equipped with 18 inch tires, an expensive music system, heated front seats, leather seats, and a heads up display. Most of the equipment found on the GXP model is optional on the Grand Prix entry level model. Optional equipment on the entry level Grand Prix model is anti-lock brakes and a traction control system, which are found on the GXP model. In safety tests carried out by the National Highway Traffic safety Administration for driver protection in case of a head on collision, the vehicle earned five stars out of five, and in case of a side on collision the vehicle earned three stars.

2008 Pontiac Grand Prix picture

The materials used in building the 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix are not very good and it leaves a lot to be desired. The panel that houses the music control buttons of the vehicle is made of plastics that look and feel cheap. The accommodation available inside the vehicle is comparable to competitor’s vehicles of the same size. The seat in the back is a bench seat, but is situated low to the floor making the passenger feel that his knees is close to his ears. The rear seat has been designed to counteract the sloping roofline of the vehicle, but even then head room at the rear is less. The only pleasing fact for passengers seated in the back is that entry and exit out of the vehicle is easy as the back doors open 90 degrees.
