Out on the road, the Baja Turbo is built to inspire confidence. In addition to its full-time all-wheel-drive, this renegade vehicle comes standard with a 2.5-liter, 16-valve, SOHC-designed, horizontally-opposed four cylinder engine that delivers 165 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and produces 166 pounds-per-foot of torque at 4,000 rpm. Subaru Baja also boasts sequential multi-port fuel injection, distributorless electronic ignition, and the patented Engine Control Module, which manages fuel injection and ignition systems, and features learning, self-diagnosis, limp home and antiknock capabilities. The Baja also features a fully independent, heavy-duty raised type suspension with coil springs and struts, and four-wheel antilock brakes. Finally, Subaru’s legendary full-time AWD system automatically distributes power between front and rear wheels based on traction needs. With power like this, we guarantee you’ll give a good Baja review.

The 2012 Subaru Baja is safe, too. Standard safety features include a viscous limited-slip rear differential, dual front air bags, dual-stage deployment passenger front air bag, daytime running lights, three-point front seatbelts with pretensioners, force limiters and height-adjustable shoulder belt anchors, energy-absorbing collapsible steering column, energy-absorbing front and rear crumple zones, side impact door beams, and the LATCH child restraint tether system.
