Below are the best online resources for tires and safety. Most names you may recognize some perhaps not. Either way, these sites are consistently voted the best in their field hands-down.

Action Tire - Great source for wheels, tires and performance parts.

Inflation Safety Guide - An excellent article from Goodyear on the dangers of wrongly inflated tires. Should be read by anyone concerned about tire safety.

Balogh Export, Inc. -  This Miami company is an international distributor of tires and tubes, focusing on Central and South America and the Caribbean.

BFGoodrich -  First pneumatic tires in America, first tubeless tire, first American radial, first test flight of the Space Shuttle, and many firsts in racing. What else can I say?

Bridgestone -  Japanese tire maker often in the news due to the ongoing tire failure controversy. Info on Firestone, Dayton, also found here as Bridgestone owns both.

Continental -  Well-known European tire maker, often used as original equipment supplier to the major car manufacturers. The site is a little vague but fortunately these quality tires aren't.

Discount Tire Co. -  Claims to be America's largest independent tire dealer. The site is attractive and easy to navigate and besides, it has a URL that most tire dealers would pay a fortune to own!

Dunlop Tire Corporation -  Originating in England, it is one of the oldest. Dunlop is famous for discovering the dangers of "aquaplaning" on wet roads and doing something about it. Racer, innovator.

Firestone -  Now Bridgestone-Firestone but anyone who's been around long enough knows the name as one of America's original tire makers.

Goodyear Tire and Rubber -  An American tradition and a racing icon, as well. Makes a tire that could suffer a major puncture, instantly lose all air pressure, and still be driven for hundreds of miles.

Hankook Tires USA -  Not a name that first jumps to mind but definitely a brand to consider, Hankook's are made in Korea and specified as original equipment by a wide variety of automakers.

Hoosier Tires -  Among the Goliaths there are still Davids. This little-known tire brand has a background and reputation in racing. Site is for a specific dealer, one of the few. Enjoy!

Michelin -  Famous French company invented the radial tire, created the Michelin man, developed the world-famous Michelin travel and restaurant guides.

Pirelli -  The Italian tire maker has long been known for two exceptional things. First, as a maker of race-proved street tires, and second, for the annual Pirelli calendar. More than just tires here.

Tirerack.com! -  This well-known retailer of tires and specialty wheels now sells via the Net but wait, there's more: The site has numerous tips and advice, including test comparisons of brands. Recommended!

Tire Industry Safety Council -  Created by the tire manufacturers specifically to dispense information and tips to consumers. The site provides answers to many of your questions about tires and tire care.

Tires, Tyres, and more Tires -  Established as a world wide information trading site to promote trade in the tire industry. If you're in the tire business it could be helpful. Some consumer info, too.

Yokohama -  As Japanese automakers have established themselves among the world's best, so too have the tire manufacturers. The Yokohama site has an e-mail address, meaning that here's an expert you can talk to.
