2008 Toyota Prius hybrid price
The 2008 Toyota Prius is a midsize 4-door sedan that is available in three models, standard, base and touring. All three models are powered by a system called the Hybrid Synergy Drive, which basically means that the Prius is powered by a 1.5 Liter gas engine and two electric motors. One electric motor is used to power the front tires of the vehicle and the other is used to generate power that recharges the battery pack of the vehicle. While the gas engine is rated at 76 horsepower and 82 pound-feet of torque, the electric motors are rated at 67 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. It is equipped with a continuously variable transmission. The fuel economy ratings of the Toyota Prius model are 48 miles per gallon on city streets and 45 miles per gallon highway. The Prius achieved a speed of 60 miles per hour in 10.9 seconds. To save gas the Prius electric motors stop the gas engine when it is waiting at a signal. When the driver throttles, the gas engine starts but it has an annoying habit of slowing down by itself when the vehicle is being driven at a cruising speed.
The 2008 Prius standard model is equipped with 15 inch tires, keyless entry, fully power accessories, a steering wheel with tilt and a music system with six speakers and a CD player. The Prius base model is equipped with a cruise control system, and heated side view mirrors. The Prius Touring model is equipped with 16 inch tires and xenon headlights. Optional equipment on the Prius is in the form of packages that are numbered 2 to 6, which include a rearview camera, keyless ignition, fog lights, fabric seats, Bluetooth, GPS, and a JBL music system with nine speakers and a 6 CD changer located in the dashboard. The Prius is equipped with anti-lock brakes, traction control, airbags on the side for front passengers, and curtain airbags on the side for the entire length of the vehicle.
