2008 Volvo S60 T5, R review
With more stylish design and enhanced driving performance, one undeniable truth rings out after reading our 2008 Volvo S60 T5, R review, the stereotype of the boxy, spartan Volvo has been dispelled. You won't see it from our 2008 Volvo S60 picture above, but the all-wheel-drive version of Volvo's best selling model gets a more-powerful engine for 2008. A 2.4-liter five-cylinder engine that produces 168 horsepower is under the hood of the S60 2.4.197 horsepower roar from the turbocharged 2.4T. The new 2.5T AWD yields 208 horsepower and adds an all-wheel-drive system. Finally, the T5 is the most powerful S60 with its 247-horsepower 2.3-liter turbocharged engine. Both the 2.4 and T5 can be equipped with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission, while the 2.4T and 2.5T AWD are available only with the automatic. We would be remiss in our duties to omit safety features from our 2008 Volvo s60 review even though they are a well know feature of the Volvo dynasty. Standard safety features include front side airbags, curtain side airbags, and antilock 4-wheel disc brakes. Traction control is standard on all S60s. An antiskid system is standard on the T5, optional for other models. In NHTSA crash testing, the S60 scores four stars for the driver and front passenger. Side-impact scores are five stars for front-seat occupants and rear-seat riders. In IIHS offset crash testing, the S60 T5, R received a rating of "Good" overall.
There are four trim levels or body styles that vary on the basis of standard equipment and engine type: 2008: Base 2.4, midlevel 2.4T, 2.5T AWD for the snow endowed, and luxurious T5. The "base" model is the 2.4, equipped with dual-zone climate control, power-fold rear headrests, one-touch up and down for front windows and tilt and telescoping steering wheel. In addition the 2.4T gets a power driver seat, automatic climate control and an automatic transmission. The T5 is equipped with aluminum mesh inlays and, along with the similarly-equipped AWD, gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power passenger seat and may be equipped with an in-dash four-disc CD player. There is an almost endless list of 2008 Volvo S60 accessories, including The Volvo Navigation System which guides you on your way with an easy-to-read 6.5" color screen which retracts into the dash when not in use. The screen displays your location on the map by utilizing a global positioning satellite system. New DVD technology gives you access to all of the U.S. and Canada as well. Other options include 17-inch wheels, leather trim, heated seats and a power sunroof.
Interior Design and Special Features: The S60's interior is similar in design to that of the S80 and V70. There is plenty of passenger space all around while the front seats have optimum cushioning and adaptability. The Climate Package includes heated front seats. Interior comfort amenities are offered by retailers of 2008 Volvo S60 accessories including a Padded Neck Cushion to make the journey even more comfortable, which can be positioned on any of the car's head restraints. For you workaholics, there is a PC table to turn your Volvo S60 T5, R into a traveling office.
