2008 Volvo XC90 road test review
Ensconced in the legendary ruggedness and durability of its namesake, the 2008 Volvo XC90 is a full-fledged SUV. We created our 2008 Volvo xc90 SUV road test review and obtained our XC90 picture as means to demonstrate that fact. A 6.5 inches ride height advantage over XC70, and an impressive maximum ground clearance of 9.2 inches (when equipped with 18-inch wheels) allows the XC90 to move to light offroad and stand up to the demands of suburban road conditions. To prevent perhaps the most dangerous mishap common to SUVs, Volvo now includes Roll Stability Control (RSC) that activates the DSTC (Dynamic Stability and Traction Control) to help prevent rollovers. Just in case, the roof of the XC90 is composed of Boron steel, which Volvo notes is four times stronger than conventional steel. The entry-level 2.5T comes with front-wheel or all-wheel drive, a 208-hp 5-cyl engine, and 5-speed automatic transmission. The T6 AWD has a 268-hp 6 cyl and a 4-speed automatic. Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes and antiskid/traction control are standard.
Body Styles, Trim Levels and Options: There will continue to be a debate whether the 2008 Volvo XC90 is a true SUV or a crossover. Regardless, the XC90 is a safe and fun vehicle. You can order an XC90 with leather upholstery, a moonroof, memory for the side mirrors, a power passenger seat, an in-dash six-disc changer, Homelink and an auto-dimming mirror. You can even get a Dolby Pro Logic II Surround system with 12 speakers, 18-inch wheels, a wood steering wheel and power retractable side mirrors. Deeper options include a third-row seat with a rear air conditioner with its own controls, a self-leveling rear suspension, rear headphone outlets with separate stereo controls and a center booster seat for the second row. Individual options include a DVD-based navigation system, bi-HID headlamps, a park distance control system and a DVD entertainment system that'll be available in the year. If you're shopping for a luxury SUV or crossover SUV, the XC90 just might fit the bill.
